Adeleke Leads Early in Osun Governorship Election Results

Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party emerged with an early lead in the Osun State governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began collating results on Saturday. Provisional results uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing Portal indicated Adeleke was leading, followed by Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Party (ADC).

As of the report, INEC had uploaded 95% of the results, with Adeleke leading in several Local Government Areas (LGAs) including Osogbo, Oriade, Iwo, Ede South, Ife North, Ife East, and Irepodun. In Ife North, Adeleke secured 2,043 votes against Oyebamiji's 1,386.

Overall, Adeleke polled 4,429 votes compared to Oyebamiji's 3,088 in various wards. Notably, prominent politicians like former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rauf Aregbesola faced defeats in their polling units, with Adeleke outperforming Oyebamiji in Oyinlola's unit.
