Adeleke Accuses APC of Election Sabotage in Osun

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has publicly accused certain factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to sabotage the upcoming governorship election set for August 15, 2026. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, Adeleke claimed that these actors are resorting to anti-democratic tactics due to their fear of losing the election.

He referenced an internal assessment indicating that the APC's popularity had dwindled to below 30 percent, while his own approval rating ranged between 68 to 72 percent, according to a survey conducted between late 2025 and March 2026. Adeleke also pointed to recent comments made by APC chieftain Akin Ogunbiyi, which he interpreted as indicative of internal strife within the party, particularly among factions linked to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

In response, Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed Adeleke's allegations as unfounded, suggesting they reflect anxiety within Adeleke's camp.
