Adeleke Accuses APC of Disrupting Osun Election Plans

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has alleged that certain elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are orchestrating a plot to disrupt the governorship election set for August 15, 2026. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, Adeleke expressed concerns that the APC, fearing defeat, is resorting to anti-democratic means to secure power.

He highlighted that recent surveys indicated the APC's popularity was below 30%, while his approval rating remained between 68% and 72%, demonstrating significant support from the populace. Adeleke further claimed that the opposition's desperation has intensified following revelations regarding Akin Ogunbiyi's stance on President Bola Tinubu, which unsettled factions within the APC.

He asserted that the opposition's attempts to manipulate the electoral process would fail, as the people of Osun are determined to exercise their constitutional right to vote. In response, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed Adeleke's allegations, suggesting that the governor is merely reacting to his impending defeat.
