Adeleke Urges FG To Release Osun LG Funds After NBA, Obas’ Intervention

Governor Adeleke of Osun State has urged the Federal Government to release funds allocated to the local government after intervention by the NBA and traditional leaders. The NBA committee found legal reasons for withholding the funds due to a court decision in 2022 that led to a fresh election in February 2025.

The PDP candidate won the election and was recognized as the legitimate officeholder. Despite this, the Federal Government continued to recognize the sacked APC official and withheld council funds.

Adeleke thanked the NBA and others for their support and called for the release of the funds, emphasizing the lack of legal justification for withholding them. The NBA has warned that this action undermines public trust in democratic institutions and plans to take legal action to enforce compliance with the law.
