BREAKING: Osun Gov’t Sends Fresh Message to Tinubu over Withheld LG Funds

The Osun State Government has issued a statement calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release the local government funds that have been withheld. The Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, stated that the government is withholding the funds based on a court ruling from June 13, 2025, which validated the February 22 local government elections in the state.

The government argues that there is a legal and political basis for continuing to withhold the funds. The statement also alleges that President Tinubu is unaware of the decision to block the funds and claims that the action was politically motivated to undermine Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The government warned that the people of Osun would ultimately be the victims of this withholding of funds.
