Adeleke Calls on Tinubu to Address Osun Killings

On Monday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke alleged that extrajudicial killings were occurring in the state and called on President Bola Tinubu to take action. Speaking at a governorship campaign rally for the Accord Party in Osogbo, Adeleke reminded Tinubu of the endorsement he received for the 2027 elections and urged him to protect the residents of Osun.

He expressed concern over potential election rigging in the upcoming August 15 governorship poll, asserting that the electorate would resist any manipulation. Adeleke referenced the political crisis of 1983, warning that a similar situation should be avoided.

He accused the police of bias in the ongoing political crisis and reiterated his commitment to ensuring a free and fair election, stating, “Osun will not accept any rigging.” He emphasized that he intends to win the election if it is conducted fairly. The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared 14 political parties to participate in the election.
