Oyebamiji Urges Adeleke to Prevent Violence in Osun

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Osun State election, called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to advise his supporters against violence following the August 15, 2026 election, which he lost to Adeleke of the Accord Party. This appeal was made on August 21, 2026, after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Oyebamiji stressed the need for peace and urged that political differences should not result in attacks on residents. He reported that violence had occurred in his hometown, Ikire, where several individuals were allegedly attacked, although he did not provide details on the victims or circumstances.

Oyebamiji did not accuse Adeleke of instigating violence but requested that the governor use his influence to promote calm. He also mentioned that the APC had not yet finalized its position regarding the election results, stating that the party was still reviewing the outcome.
