Tinubu Urges Adeleke to Promote Unity After Victory

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu received Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Adeleke expressed gratitude for the President's role in ensuring a free and fair election during his re-election. Tinubu urged Adeleke to exhibit magnanimity in victory and to foster unity, peace, and stability in the state.

He emphasized that true democracy is about celebrating the joy of a fair election and not victimizing opponents. Tinubu advised Adeleke to focus on governance rather than triumphalism, stating that he is in a unique position to shape a broader legacy.

He encouraged the governor to promote democratic values, stability, and the rule of law while avoiding stigmatization of political opponents. Additionally, Tinubu criticized a pledge by Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, to restore petrol subsidy, labeling it as ignorance of governance and economic realities.
