Wike Attributes Adeleke's Win to Tinubu's Fair Election

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, asserted that Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party won the Osun State governorship election because President Bola Tinubu permitted a free and fair electoral process. Wike made these remarks during an inspection of flood-affected areas in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday.

He responded to the August 15 election results, where Adeleke defeated Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, receiving 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji's 444,815, resulting in a margin of 66,252 votes. Wike dismissed allegations of Federal Government manipulation, stating that the election outcome showed no federal influence undermined the opposition.

He noted that Tinubu congratulated Adeleke, indicating a fair electoral process. Wike also urged observers to differentiate between state governorship and presidential elections, cautioning against misinterpretations of off-season election results.

Additionally, he addressed flooding issues in the FCT, emphasizing the need to understand underlying causes rather than politicizing the situation.
