Adeleke's Camp Denies Tinubu's Influence in Election

Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, denied that President Bola Tinubu's support played a role in Governor Ademola Adeleke's victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election. Olajengbesi stated that Adeleke's re-election was a result of his popularity and the goodwill of the Osun electorate, emphasizing that the governor did not receive any political or electoral favors from the Federal Government.

Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, won 19 out of 30 local government areas, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who secured 11 local governments. Olajengbesi claimed that the election results reflected the people's desire for Adeleke to continue his governance, citing his achievements in infrastructure and workers' welfare.

He also addressed Adeleke's endorsement of Tinubu for a second term in 2027, asserting that it did not influence the election outcome and that the APC had not supported Adeleke during the election. Despite acknowledging challenges such as intimidation during the election, Olajengbesi maintained that Adeleke's popularity led to his victory.
