Sowore Claims Adeleke Family Controls Osun State

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 general election, alleged on Thursday during an appearance on News Central Television that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is not effectively managing the state's affairs. Sowore claimed that the governance is being influenced by Adeleke's family members, specifically his sister and elder brother Adedeji Adeleke, who is the father of Nigerian singer Davido.

Sowore expressed his discontent with Adeleke's performance, particularly after observing the governor in a town hall programme. His comments come in the lead-up to the August 15 governorship election, as political parties ramp up their campaigns.

Additionally, Sowore reported that police officers had fired tear gas at him and his team while they were en route to Osogbo, despite a peaceful interaction with the officers. He criticized the police for intimidating political actors instead of protecting citizens and the democratic process.
