Daniel Adeleye Misses ATP Challenger but Aids Nigeria's Davis Cup

Daniel Adeleye, ranked 849 in the world, missed the main draw of the 2026 ATP 50 Challenger in Abidjan after suffering a second-round qualifying defeat to Algeria's Hamza Reguig, with scores of 7-5, 6-3. Earlier, Adeleye had won his first-round match against France's Elijah Sanogo, earning his first ATP ranking points.

Despite his setback in the Challenger, Adeleye played a crucial role in Nigeria's advancement to the Davis Cup World Group II playoffs, scheduled for February 18-20, 2026, by winning two significant singles matches against Uzbekistan. Nigeria secured a 3-1 victory, with Adeleye restoring parity in the tie with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Abdulaziz Usmonjonov, following a loss by Canic Abua.

The team, led by Michael Emmanuel, ultimately secured their place in the playoffs with a doubles victory. However, Adeleye may be unavailable for the upcoming tie due to his commitments in the ATP Challenger circuit.
