Nigerian Senate Extends Recess for Independence Day Celebrations

The Nigerian Senate has adjusted its resumption date, extending the annual recess by two weeks to observe Independence Day celebrations fully. The postponement was communicated through an internal memo signed by the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Akubueze.

The reason cited for the delay was to allow lawmakers to participate in the October 1st Independence Day festivities. The decision aligns with the Senate's commitment to reciprocity with the House of Representatives, which also adjourned for a break.

The memo titled "Notice Shift Plenary Resumption Date" apologized for the late notification and emphasized the need for senators to adjust their schedules accordingly.
