AfCFTA's Wamkele Mene to Lead PMI Global Summit in Cape Town

The Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Mr. Wamkele Mene, will headline the PMI Global Summit Series in Cape Town, South Africa, scheduled for September. Hosted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) sub-Saharan Africa, the summit will gather leaders from government, development finance, energy, technology, and infrastructure sectors under the theme "Africa Delivers M.O.R.E.

Together." Organizers emphasize that Africa's integration relies on effective market connectivity, movement of goods and people, economic empowerment, and ease of cross-border business. The summit aims to transition from policy discussions to practical solutions, addressing key challenges such as energy access, digital trade, infrastructure development, and the future of artificial intelligence.

Notable speakers include Mteto Nyathi, Chair of Eskom, who will discuss energy access, Olugbenga Agboola, Founder & CEO of Flutterwave, focusing on financial systems, Willem Botha from Zutari on infrastructure projects, and Ziaad Suleman from Cassava Technologies on AI development. George Asamani, Managing Director of PMI sub-Saharan Africa, remarked on Africa's ambitious development goals.
