Senegal to Appeal CAF Ruling After AFCON Final Controversy

The Senegal Football Federation has announced its intention to appeal a ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the AFCON 2025 final match against Morocco. During the match held in Rabat, Senegal's team walked off the pitch for 10 minutes in protest of a penalty awarded to Morocco.

After returning, Senegal won the match in extra time, but the CAF's disciplinary committee ruled that Senegal breached tournament rules by protesting. The appeal board, led by Nigerian judge Roli Daibo, awarded the title to Morocco, marking their first AFCON title in 50 years.

Senegal denounced the ruling as unfair and unprecedented, stating it discredits African football. The federation plans to defend its rights at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, and will keep the public informed of developments.
