Afenifere Attributes Nigeria's Insecurity to Insider Sabotage

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, has voiced serious concerns regarding the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, attributing the situation to insider sabotage and collusion among security agencies and local communities. In a statement released by Jare Ajayi from their national public secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State, Afenifere lamented recent violent incidents, including an attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, where military personnel were killed, and an assault on a poultry farm in Ondo State that resulted in multiple fatalities and abductions.

The organization noted that insecurity has worsened due to various factors, including internal sabotage and possible foreign sponsorship of banditry. They referenced a statement by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who indicated collaboration between politicians and the armed forces.

Afenifere called for a thorough examination of the security situation, emphasizing the need for accountability and action against the identified elements contributing to the violence.
