Afenifere Raises Alarm Over Army Personnel Killings in Borno

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, expressed deep concern regarding the killing of army personnel during an attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. The statement, issued by Comrade Jare Ajayi, condemned the actions of the attackers, believed to be associated with Boko Haram, and emphasized the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

Afenifere noted that this situation is exacerbated by various factors, including alleged internal sabotage among political actors and security agencies, as well as the involvement of foreign interests in Nigeria's resources. The organization called for a thorough examination of the factors contributing to insecurity, including the targeting of motorbike riders by bandits.

Afenifere urged the government to take decisive actions, including the involvement of state police in combating banditry and terrorism, and referenced past measures taken during former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's administration to address similar issues.
