Afreximbank's Profit Jumps 30% in H1 2026 Financials

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) announced a 30% increase in net income for the first half of 2026, totaling $534.7 million, compared to $412.7 million in the same period of 2025. This growth was attributed to stronger lending, trade finance, and fee-based activities.
The bank's half-year results for the six months ending June 30, 2026, revealed net loans and advances increased by 5.7% to $35.4 billion from $33.5 billion at the end of 2025. Net interest income rose by 22% to $1 billion, while fee and commission income increased by 15% to $71.1 million.
Overall gross income climbed to $1.8 billion from $1.6 billion a year earlier. Following this reporting period, Afreximbank raised $1.5 billion through a dual-tranche bond.
Despite rising personnel expenses and inflation, the bank maintained a cost-to-income ratio of 20%. Denys Denya, Senior Executive Vice President, stated the performance reflects the bank's resilience, while Dr. Kingsley Moghalu emphasized the importance of disciplined risk management in development finance.
