Afreximbank and ZEP-RE Partner to Boost Trade Skills

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company) have entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance professional and institutional capacity in trade, insurance, reinsurance, risk management, and trade facilitation across Africa. The MoU was signed at ZEP-RE’s offices in Nairobi by Stephen Tio Kauma, Group Managing Director, Human Resources, Afreximbank, and Jephita Gwatipedza, Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, ZEP-RE.
The partnership aims to address the skills and institutional capacity necessary for supporting Africa’s expanding trade and investment ecosystem, particularly as cross-border transactions become more complex. Under this agreement, Afreximbank Academy (AFRACAD) and ZEP-RE Academy will collaborate to develop digital learning content, including e-learning courses and toolkits.
They will also design professional development programs covering risk and reinsurance, trade guarantees, and market development, which will be accessible through their respective digital platforms.
