African Golfers Compete for $50,000 at Lakowe Lakes Classic

The inaugural Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic 2026 will take place at the Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate in Lagos from October 1 to 4, featuring a $50,000 prize purse and opportunities for world-ranking points. Organized under the Sunshine Developmental Tour, the tournament aims to elevate the standard of golf in Nigeria by providing both emerging and established professionals a platform to compete.

Femi Olagbenro, Golf Club Manager and Professional at Lakowe Lakes, stated that the event represents a significant milestone for Nigerian golf, connecting it to the broader African and international golfing community. The tournament will be played over 54 holes and is expected to attract a strong field of golfers from across Africa.

Additionally, the 2026 champion will receive a GAC Wuling Bingo EV, enhancing the competition's prestige. The event is designed to allow local players to compete against top golfers, thereby gaining valuable experience and exposure.
