African nations are making strides towards a unified reparations claim against Britain for crimes committed during the colonial era. The move signals a coordinated legal and diplomatic offensive by African leaders, with plans to file joint claims against the United Kingdom.

The initiative gained momentum at a major conference in Algiers, where policymakers focused on addressing colonial-era crimes and seeking reparations. The African Union had earlier passed a resolution calling for justice and reparations for victims of colonialism.

Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko notably sent an official claim demanding £5 trillion in reparations from the British government. Despite the UK's rejection of the claims, the African initiative is gaining traction globally, with a documentary shedding light on the legacy of colonial policies.
