FG Plans Upgrade for Margaret Ekpo International Airport

The Federal Government is set to upgrade the Margaret Ekpo International Airport to accommodate the anticipated demands of the 6th African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network Investment Conference (AfSNET 2026). Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), made this announcement during a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, alongside FAAN's Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku.

Dr Ganduje emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between FAAN and the Cross River state government to promote sustainable development at the airport. Governor Otu presented the state’s aviation master plan and discussed potential collaborations, particularly regarding the upgrade of the airport's international wing.

The delegation also inspected the ongoing runway upgrade and a newly installed 500KVA solar power system, reflecting efforts towards sustainable energy solutions. They identified areas in the terminal building needing immediate attention for modernization and development.
