Zulum Initiates Resettlement of IDPs in Konduga

Governor Babagana Zulum is moving to resettle internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Konduga, following the successful closure of the Bama IDP camp and ongoing efforts to close the Gwoza camp. Zulum emphasized that the relocation will be voluntary, ensuring that no one is forced to resettle against their will.

He stated, “Return shall be voluntary, not by force,” and indicated that discussions with the IDPs will take place over the next four months to facilitate a dignified resettlement process. During his visit to Konduga, Zulum inspected resettlement houses currently under construction in Amarwa and later visited Maiwa in Mafa Local Government Area.

The Amarwa resettlement city, for which he had previously laid the foundation, aims to provide shelter for displaced persons. The state government is also constructing housing units in Maiwa, equipped with public facilities such as a primary healthcare center and water facilities.

Zulum was accompanied by Engr Bukar Talba, Hon. Bukar Modu, Sugun Mai Mele, and other senior officials.
