Borno Governor Zulum Plans Closure of Konduga IDP Camp

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has announced the planned closure of the Konduga Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, following the successful closure of the Bama IDP camp and the upcoming shutdown of the Gwoza camp. During a press briefing on Sunday, Zulum emphasized that the relocation process will be entirely voluntary, ensuring that no displaced persons will be forced to resettle against their will.

He stated, “We are not carrying out the resettlement process immediately; we are here to discuss with the IDPs so that in the next four months they will be resettled in a dignified manner.” Zulum inspected resettlement houses under construction in Amarwa and visited Maiwa in Mafa Local Government Area. The Amarwa resettlement city is being built to accommodate displaced persons from camps and will include essential public facilities such as a primary healthcare center and water facilities.

Zulum was accompanied by several officials, including Engr Bukar Talba and Hon. Bukar Modu.
