After PMS, Dangote Refinery Slashes Cooking Gas Price Below N800/kg, Lowest in Nigeria

Dangote Refinery, Africa's largest refinery, has reduced the price of liquified natural gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, to below N800/kg, making it the lowest in Nigeria. The refinery also lowered the price of petrol from N820 to N854 per litre, leading to a drop in petrol prices across depots.

The latest cooking gas price of N740 per kg is the lowest among depot operators in the country. Experts have praised this move and urged other operators to follow suit, attributing the price cut to the declining crude oil prices in the international market.

This reduction comes as cooking gas prices in Nigeria have been steadily rising, impacting household budgets. Despite being Africa's largest oil producer, Nigeria heavily relies on imported cooking gas, making local prices susceptible to global market fluctuations.

Aliko Dangote, the billionaire behind the refinery, had previously announced plans to lower cooking gas prices and warned against bypassing pricing guidelines.
