Five Officers Arrested for Bribery at Abuja Airport

Five security officers have been arrested in connection with a bribery scandal involving a security breach at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport that occurred on February 12, 2026. The officers, identified as Ayuba Yakubu, Murtala Inuwa, Najeeb Murtala, Musa Adamu, and Salihu Victor, were detained following a joint investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Federal Ministry of Aviation.

The investigation revealed that the officers allegedly confessed to receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorized entry into restricted areas and obstruct law enforcement operations. The authorities have stated that those found guilty of bribery will face administrative actions, while the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) will prosecute those involved.

This incident is part of a broader crackdown on corruption linked to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai's attempts to address security issues at the airport.
