Benue State University Renamed Father Adasu University Makurdi in Simplification Move

The Benue State House Assembly has approved the renaming of the state university in Makurdi. The institution, formerly known as Rev Fr Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi, will now be called Father Adasu University Makurdi.

The Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, argued that the former name needed simplification. The university was initially established as Benue State University (BSU) and was first renamed in December 2024 to honor the late Rev Fr Moses Orshio Adasu, the former governor credited with founding the school.

The House also made amendments to the law upgrading Colleges of Education in Oju. This decision aims to streamline the university's name and honor its historical roots.
