Court Halts PDP Convention Over Exclusion Dispute

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, issued an order on Friday preventing the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from proceeding with its national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan. The court ruled in favor of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who sued the party for not allowing him to purchase a nomination form, thus excluding him from contesting in the convention.

The judgment also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising or monitoring the convention until Lamido is given the opportunity to participate. This legal action highlights internal party disputes and adherence to party guidelines.
