Nigeria Wins $6.2M Arbitration Against European Dynamics

Nigeria achieved a significant legal victory, winning $6.2 million in an arbitration case against European Dynamics UK Ltd, which had alleged breach of contract concerning the design and development of a national electronic procurement system. The tribunal, led by sole arbitrator Funmi Robert, ruled on February 3, 2026, in Abuja, dismissing the contractor's claims, which included approximately $2.4 million for milestone completion, $3 million in general damages, and an additional $800,000 in settlement claims.

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), represented by Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, argued that the contractor failed to deliver a satisfactory product, which was deemed the vendor's responsibility. The tribunal found no evidence supporting the contractor's claims and ruled that Nigeria would not incur additional costs.

Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi commended the BPP's legal team for their efforts, emphasizing that this outcome sends a clear message to the international community regarding Nigeria's commitment to upholding contractual obligations.
