Coalition Urges Action to Prevent Agbede Chieftaincy Crisis

The Ayuel Solidarity Front coalition has called on security agencies to take immediate action to prevent a potential crisis in Agbede, Edo State, regarding the chieftaincy stool. This follows a judgment delivered on January 12, 2026, by the Federal High Court, which affirmed the rightful succession based on seniority among the late Oba's sons.

The coalition, which includes notable figures such as Hon. Zak Momoh and Dr.

Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, expressed concern over the alleged illegal installation of Mr.

Shayawu Momodu, who reportedly broke into the Agbede palace despite a court order suspending the installation process. The coalition demands the enforcement of the court's order and the immediate eviction of Mr.

Momodu from the palace to maintain peace and order in the community. They also urged the Edo State Police to deploy officers to ensure compliance with the law and prevent further provocations.
