Tensions Rise in Edo ADC Meeting, Police Intervene

A leadership meeting of the Edo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ended in a standoff on Monday at the residence of Chief John Odigi Oyegun, the party leader. Tensions escalated when several senior members, including Sir Rowland Owi, Sunni Aguebor, and Douglah Iyik, were reportedly informed they were not on the invitation list and were denied entry.

Aggrieved members gathered outside the residence, prompting the Edo State Police Command to intervene to defuse the situation. Owi, speaking to journalists, criticized the national leadership of the ADC for excluding statutory members from the meeting and called for action against Oyegun, who he claimed had not supported the party adequately.

He emphasized that the party members were frustrated with the current leadership and demanded respect for the party's structure. The meeting had been postponed multiple times, and Owi expressed that the party had reached a breaking point regarding leadership issues.
