Edo Government Warns Against Forceful Takeover in Okpella

The Edo State Government issued a warning against any forceful takeover in the ongoing kingship dispute in Okpella. This statement came after a recent high court ruling delivered by Justice O.

Otamer Fugar, which addressed the traditional leadership of the community. The court ruled that the former monarch, Lukeman Akemoku, did not receive a fair hearing.

In response, the current monarch, Michael Sado, was installed as the new traditional leader. The government cautioned that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the peace or undermine the judicial process would face immediate consequences.

They highlighted credible intelligence indicating that certain unscrupulous elements were planning to cause mayhem. The government reiterated that no faction has the right to self-appoint or enforce court rulings, as the matter remains subject to appeal.

Law enforcement agencies have been placed on red alert to monitor the situation in Okpella, urging community leaders and residents to remain calm and allow the judicial process to proceed without obstruction.
