AGF Takes Over Criminal Case Against Lawyer Mike Ozekhome for Alleged Forgery

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) has assumed control of a criminal prosecution case against prominent lawyer Mike Ozekhome, who is facing charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Ozekhome is scheduled to be arraigned in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on three counts, including forgery.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, representing the AGF, informed the court of the decision. The ICPC had initially brought the charges against Ozekhome, alleging that he presented falsified Nigerian passport documents to support claims about a property in London.

The alleged offenses took place in August 2021 within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court. Ozekhome's defense team, led by former AGF Kanu Agabi, did not oppose the transfer of the case to the AGF.

The matter has been adjourned until February 24 for the arraignment.
