FG Withdraws Forgery Charges Against Mike Ozekhome

The Federal Government formally withdrew forgery charges against Senior Advocate Mike Ozekhome, leading to an abrupt pause in the case that had garnered public attention. The charges originated from an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) concerning property transactions linked to the late former FCT Minister Jeremiah Useni.

On Tuesday, in the FCT High Court, Director of Public Prosecutions Rotimi Oyedepo informed the court of the withdrawal, which was further explained by counsel Peter Kekemek in line with Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. Defense counsel Paul Erokoro, SAN, indicated that the defense team did not object to the withdrawal of the charges.

Consequently, Justice Kekemek granted the application, resulting in the charges being struck out and the case dismissed, effectively halting the legal action against Ozekhome regarding the alleged forgery.
