AGF Takes Over Prosecution of Lawyer Mike Ozekhome in Corruption Case as Court Adjourns Arraignment

The Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Attorney General of Nigeria approval to review the fraud charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against lawyer Mike Ozekhome. The court adjourned the arraignment initially scheduled for February 24, 2026, to allow the AGF's office to study the case file.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, announced the AGF's decision to take over the prosecution in the public interest and to ensure due process. The ICPC had filed three criminal charges against Ozekhome, accusing him of fraud and forgery in connection with a disputed property in London.

The case involves allegations of receiving the property as a gift and using a forged Nigerian passport to support ownership claims. Former AGF Kanu Agabi led Ozekhome's defense team, and the matter was adjourned to February 24 for the arraignment.
