Super Falcons Fall to Cameroon 1-0 in Friendly Match

The Super Falcons of Nigeria faced a narrow 1-0 defeat against Cameroon in a friendly match at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé. This encounter was the first of two international friendlies organized to prepare for the upcoming 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria aims to defend its title.

Head coach Justin Madugu fielded a mix of experienced players and newcomers, including Comfort Erhabor, who made her senior international debut. Despite controlling much of the match, Nigeria struggled to convert their dominance into goals, with poor finishing and rushed decisions in the final third.

The disciplined Cameroonian defense kept the game goalless until stoppage time, when the Indomitable Lionesses scored a dramatic late winner, marking their first victory over Nigeria since 2015. This result ended Nigeria's impressive near four-year unbeaten run against African opponents.

The Super Falcons will regroup for the second leg of the friendly series on Tuesday, March 3.
