Umo Eno Approves ₦123.5bn for Road Projects in Akwa Ibom

On April 10, 2026, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno announced the approval of ₦123.5 billion for the development of road projects covering a total of 167 kilometers across the state. This decision was disclosed in a statement signed by Aniekan Umanah from the state commission.

The approval followed a nod from the State Executive Council and is intended to address multiple financial obligations related to the projects. The ₦123.5 billion includes a mobilization fee and interim payments to contractors handling various road projects.

Key projects listed include the six-lane dualization of Ikw Odio Road and the reconstruction of Ikot Akpaden Okoret Iko Road, among others. The breakdown of the funds indicates that ₦69 billion is earmarked for newly awarded projects, while ₦54.5 billion is allocated for outstanding interim payment certificates.

The governor emphasized that this financial release aims to stimulate construction activities and ensure timely project completion within the agreed timeframe.
