Akwa Ibom Settles N82bn Gratuities for Retirees

In an Easter broadcast, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno announced that his administration has paid N82 billion to settle the gratuities of retirees, fulfilling a campaign promise made during his tenure. This payment addresses an inherited backlog of N111 billion owed to retired civil servants since 2012.

Governor Eno emphasized his administration's commitment to clearing these gratuity obligations as part of his agenda. He also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of 1,300 kilometers of roads and the establishment of model primary healthcare centers and schools across the state.

Eno reassured citizens that no local government area would be left untouched by these projects, which aim to improve the welfare of the people. He expressed hope and determination to overcome challenges, drawing inspiration from the Easter message of hope and redemption.
