Air Peace Lost $2m To Tunisia-Based Firm – CEO Onyema

Air Peace CEO, Dr. Allen Onyema, disclosed that the airline willingly lost $2 million in a fraudulent wet lease deal with a Tunisia-based firm to protect Nigeria's aviation image.

Speaking at the 29th LAAC Conference, Onyema explained that the company claimed to take leased aircraft for maintenance but never returned them, leading to the financial loss. He emphasized that the sacrifice was a strategic move to prevent Nigeria from being blacklisted and to improve the leasing environment in the country.

Onyema praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Aviation Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for their decisive leadership and commitment to the industry's growth. He stressed that the sacrifice made by individual operators should translate into lasting benefits for the entire aviation sector.
