Aircraft Crew Detained After Landing on Delta Road

On Wednesday morning, an aircraft attempted to land at Asaba Airport but was unable to access the runway, leading to an unauthorized landing on a concrete road in the Ogwashi Uku area of Delta State. The incident occurred at 7:43 AM local time.

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, stated that the aircraft's subsequent departure without authorization raised serious concerns regarding aviation regulations and national security. He expressed relief that no lives were lost and described the event as a grave regulatory concern.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has initiated a comprehensive regulatory review and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized departure. Keyamo confirmed that the flight crew is currently in custody and cooperating with security agencies.

He assured the public that a transparent investigation will be conducted, and necessary actions will be taken based on the findings, emphasizing that no individual will be allowed to operate outside established aviation procedures.
