Keyamo Addresses Private Aircraft Incident at Asaba

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, reacted to an incident involving a private aircraft that took off from a concrete road after missing its destination at Asaba Airport. The aircraft attempted to land around 7:43 AM local time but instead landed on a road constructed in the Ogwashi-Uku area near Asaba.

Fortunately, all four crew members aboard escaped unharmed. Keyamo stated that the aircraft later departed the location and flew back to Lagos without obtaining the required regulatory clearance, taking off around 11:02 GMT.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has already taken several enforcement actions in response to the incident and has grounded the aircraft pending the outcome of an investigation. The NCAA will conduct a review of the flight's regulatory compliance and airworthiness.

Keyamo confirmed that the crew members are currently in custody to assist with the ongoing investigation, which raises concerns about adherence to aviation safety procedures.
