Private Jet Grounded After Landing on Delta Road

A private jet that missed its approach to Asaba Airport and landed on a construction road in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, was grounded by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The incident occurred around 07:43 local time, and the aircraft, carrying four crew members, returned to Lagos at approximately 11:02 GMT without obtaining the necessary regulatory approval.

Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo stated that the pilot did not notify air traffic control, resulting in the aircraft becoming airborne without clearance. Keyamo described the incident as a serious breach of aviation regulations and security.

Upon arrival in Lagos, the NCAA immediately grounded the aircraft pending the outcome of an investigation. The NCAA will conduct a regulatory review and further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized departure.

Additionally, operations permits for non-commercial flights will be suspended, and the NCAA will review the aircraft's airworthiness and maintenance records.
