17-Year-Old Arrested for Sexual Assault in Abuja

The Airport Police Command arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, Benjamin Daniel, for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja, on August 15, 2026. The incident was reported by the victim’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.

According to the report, Daniel allegedly lured the victim into his room under the guise of purchasing soya bean cake, where he sexually assaulted her. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Abuja Airport Police Division advised the victim’s parents, facilitated her medical attention, and mobilized personnel to locate and arrest the suspect.

Daniel was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue. His statement was taken in the presence of his mother, adhering to procedures for juvenile suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufunke Ogunbode, condemned the incident and emphasized the Command's zero tolerance for sexual violence, directing the DPO to ensure the victim's protection and facilitate justice.
