Thugs Attack Osun Governor Adeleke After INEC Ceremony

On the day of receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State was attacked by suspected thugs at the Ataoja Palace in Osogbo. The attack occurred shortly after the governor's presentation ceremony, which was conducted by Professor Kunle Ajayi, the National Commissioner overseeing electoral activities in the South-west.

The Osun State Police Command announced that it has initiated a full-scale investigation into the incident, which reportedly involved shooting and resulted in fatalities in the Itaolokan area of Osogbo. Following the attack, Adeleke pledged through the Springtime Development Foundation to provide full scholarships for the children and dependants of those who lost their lives in the violence preceding the August 15 governorship election.

Eyewitnesses reported that the governor's convoy was targeted as it left the INEC office and approached the palace, where the attackers had gathered in anticipation of his arrival.
