17-Year-Old Arrested for Assaulting 14-Year-Old in Abuja

The Airport Police Command arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, Benjamin Daniel, for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja, on August 15, 2026. The victim's mother reported the incident to the Abuja Airport Police Division.

According to the report, Daniel allegedly lured the victim into his room under the pretense of buying soya bean cake, where he sexually assaulted her. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Abuja Airport Police Division advised the victim's parents, ensured she received prompt medical attention, and mobilized personnel to locate and arrest the suspect.

Daniel was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue. His statement was taken in the presence of his mother, adhering to procedures for juvenile suspects.

The Airport Police Command is taking measures to protect the victim and will present the suspect before a juvenile court upon investigation completion. Commissioner of Police Olufunke Ogunbode condemned the incident, emphasizing the Command's zero tolerance for sexual violence.
