17-Year-Old Arrested for Raping 14-Year-Old in Abuja

The Airport Police Command arrested 17-year-old Benjamin Daniel in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja. The incident was reported by the victim's mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.

According to the police statement, Daniel allegedly lured the victim into his room under the pretense of buying soya bean cake, where he sexually assaulted her. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer advised the victim's parents, ensured she received prompt medical attention, and mobilized personnel to locate and arrest the suspect.

Daniel was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue. His statement was taken in the presence of his mother, adhering to procedures for juvenile suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Olufunke Ogunbode, condemned the incident and emphasized the command's zero tolerance for sexual violence, directing the DPO to protect the victim and facilitate justice.
