Aisha Yesufu Urges Wike to Resolve FCT Teachers' Strike

Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu expressed her concern regarding the ongoing teachers' strike in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and called for urgent intervention from Minister Nyesom Wike to resolve the crisis. In a statement made on Monday, Yesufu lamented the prolonged closure of public primary schools across the FCT, noting that the situation continues to disrupt the education of thousands of children.

She emphasized that education is a fundamental right and should not be treated with negligence. Yesufu urged authorities to prioritize the welfare of both teachers and students, stating that the ongoing strike is unacceptable as children cannot continue to pay the price for unresolved issues.

She appealed directly to Wike to take decisive steps to address the grievances of the striking teachers, which include issues surrounding unpaid salaries and poor working conditions. Yesufu warned that the lingering strike, which has lasted weeks, has left pupils at home and raised concerns among parents about the long-term impact on learning.
