Lagos PDP Chairman Disassociates Exco from State Congress

The Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Olabode Aivoji, disassociated the party's Exco from a purported state congress held on Saturday. Aivoji clarified that the current State Executive Council's tenure in Lagos would expire in March 2026, making the recent congress invalid.

He criticized the actions of the Lagos State PDP Body of Elders for setting up a screening committee without the consent of the State Exco. Aivoji emphasized that the National Working Committee had directed that the state congress be excluded from the schedule until ward and local government area congresses were conducted.

The party chairman accused loyalists of Chief Bode George of conducting the screening exercise in secrecy.
