Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Launches Solar Initiative for Businesses

Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has introduced the Lucky Light Initiative, a phased solar-energy program designed to supply reliable and affordable electricity to 1,000 small businesses across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State. Announced during the 2026 ONDEA Entrepreneurs Summit in Akure, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that energy costs significantly impact small businesses and that this initiative aims to alleviate that burden.

The program will be implemented in phases to ensure sustainable benefits statewide. Additionally, the Governor revealed grants and support for 20 young entrepreneurs selected through the ONDEA My IDEA program, which includes mentorship opportunities.

Aiyedatiwa's administration is focused on creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem that integrates skills, finance, technology, and markets, targeting sectors with high growth potential such as agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy. He also announced plans for 500 young entrepreneurs to acquire shares in the Dangote Group, promoting investment culture among the youth.
