Ajayi Aims for Victory at London Diamond League

Kayinsola Ajayi, the Nigerian 100m record holder, is preparing for the London Diamond League on Saturday, where he aims to secure his second consecutive victory in the 100m event. The 21-year-old sprinter recently set a Nigerian record of 9.84 seconds at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon, where he also defeated reigning world champion Oblique Seville from Jamaica and former world champion Christian Coleman from the United States.

Ajayi expressed confidence in his ability to prove that his success in Oregon was not a fluke, stating that it is just a matter of time before he silences his critics. He will compete against a formidable field that includes Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo from Botswana, reigning world indoor 60m champion Jordan Anthony from the United States, and British sprint star Zharnel Hughes.

Additionally, Ezekiel Nathaniel, the African record holder in the men's 400m hurdles, will also return to Diamond League action, facing tough competition from world record holder Karsten Warholm from Norway and American Trevor Bassitt.
